background
The Longest Night is a theatrical concert performed in vacant churches across The Netherlands. Project Wildeman and Cappella Amsterdam joined forces to explore rituals surrounding the ancient winter solstice. The result is a ritual that symbolizes our attempt to save humanity. Parts from Guillaume de Machaut’s Messe de Notre Dame and early Gregorian chants by Hildegard von Bingen merge and clash with live electronics in a journey from light to darkness, alternating with trance-inducing rhythms. A poetic, disorienting, and rebellious performance that questions the exploitation of the Earth, unbridled greed, and the masses blindly following questionable leaders.
