Partners and collaborations

Partners and collaborations

In 2024-2025, our collaborations include the Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century, the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra, the Combiwel Foundation, soloists Marianne Beate Kielland and Thomas Walker and many others. We hope that you will enjoy these musical partnerships as much as we do.

Cappella Amsterdam is actively seeking ways to connect more broadly with the city, particularly in neighbourhoods where residents do not naturally encounter choral music. Our strategy for this is embodied in the participation project Cappella Amsterdam in the Neighborhood, which fosters strong and lasting collaborations with Combiwel Youth Work and the Amsterdam district of De Pijp.

For example, Cappella Amsterdam has been invited by young people (ages 11-20) from the 4/5 May Committee, supported by Combiwel Community Work, to perform a concert following the 2024 Freedom Meal. These young people from the Diamantbuurt in Amsterdam South will also participate both on and off stage in De rechtvaardigen, a production in 2025 in Amsterdam. The journey towards this performance began in 2024 with various activities—some organised in the Oranjekerk—and is just as important as the final result.

Cappella Amsterdam has been rehearsing in the Oranjekerk in Amsterdam’s De Pijp district for many years, building a strong and friendly relationship with the community. Local residents often drop by to listen, responding with surprise and enthusiasm to our music. Many amateur choirs from the area also rehearse in this church. This setting offers valuable opportunities to increase our visibility and accessibility for the neighbourhood’s residents. Some of the initiatives contributing to this goal include public rehearsals (annually and widely announced within the community), meet-and-greet events with singers and the conductor, coaching sessions for amateur choirs, and collaborations with the nearby Combiwel Community Work center.

Cappella Amsterdam is also a member of Koornetwerk Nederland, Tenso, and the Professional Choirs Consultation.
