background
With Gespiegeld | Miroirs, Cappella Amsterdam and pianist Julien Libeer pay tribute to Maurice Ravel, 150 years after his birth. The programme connects Ravel’s masterpieces with music by his contemporaries, such as Fauré and Poulenc. It also includes more contemporary works, like Ešenvalds’ enchanting Stars, and showcases the meeting of French elegance and American energy.
Highlights include Libeer’s arrangement of Ravel’s Adagio for piano and choir, as well as the swinging energy of Gershwin’s Summertime and I Got Rhythm.
