Humanity, as a dreamer, prefers to retreat into its own visions, far from the hectic reality. In this dream program, pearls of French choral music are featured alongside tranquil works by David Lang. The music of David Lang (winner of the Pulitzer Prize in 2008) is reaching an increasingly larger audience. It is no coincidence that our program Again and Again, featuring Lang’s music, received high praise in 2018. Gabriel Fauré and Camille Saint-Saëns are among the most beloved French composers of all time, taking you to another world with their dreamy works. Finally, the Psalm Symphony may well be the most masterful interpretation of the universally admired Psalm 150, composed by one of the most visionary dreamers in 20th-century music history: Igor Stravinsky. This programme, with its composition, serves as a fantastic introduction for new listeners to choral music.
David Lang’s work has been released on CD.
