Cappella Amsterdam viert dit jaar haar veertigste verjaardag. Samen met Daniel Reuss, al twintig jaar dirigent en artistiek leider.
Wij nodigen u van harte uit in dit feestjaar!  Voor deze gelegenheid hernemen wij een oude traditie van het kamerkoor: het verzorgen van uitvoeringen in de mooiste Amsterdamse kerken. Tijdens vier concerten in de Waalse Kerk presenteren wij een aantrekkelijk programma met oude én hedendaagse muziek. Ook geven wij graag iets weg aan onze trouwe concertbezoekers. Bij bestelling van tenminste 2 kaarten voor twee verschillende avonden in de Waalse Kerk ontvangt u van ons de cd ‘Requiem voor…’ met het schitterende gelijknamige werk van Thomas Luis da Victoria.

This year’s Tenso Days was hosted by Det Norske Solistkor and is presented as part of ULTIMA Oslo Contemporary
Music Festival. Four Tenso member choirs (Latvijas Radio Koris, Musicatreize, Nederlands Kamerkoor, Det Norske Solistkor) were be in Oslo to present the very best in chamber choir performance.
The festival is a great illustration of Tenso’s commitment to new work: in addition to mainly contemporary programming, the Tenso choirs presented eight world premieres; and, with over 90 applications, Tenso
hosted its most sought after Composers Workshop to date.Tenso has also worked with the Norwegian Academy of
Music and composer Lasse Thoresen to produce Concrescence - Conference on Microtonality.
Finally, the Tenso board met to discuss a number of issues including the finalization of Tenso’s new structure, expanding the network, planning next years Marseille Tenso Days and a long-term EU project.

Svadebka! is genomineerd voor VSCD klassieke muziekprijs

Svadebka! en Cappella Amsterdam zijn genomineerd voor VSCD klassieke muziekprijs.
In haar persbericht schreef het VSCD het volgende:

Meest indrukwekkende prestatie van een (klein) ensemble: Les Noces initiatief van Peppie Wiersma Niet voor niets kreeg de muziektheaterproductie Svadebka! De Dorpsbruiloft na de succesvolle première in het Grachtenfestival 2009 een volgende uitvoering tijdens het Koninginnedagconcert 2010. Artistiek leider Peppie Wiersma, regisseur Marc Pantus en de zangers van Cappella Amsterdam (die uit het hoofd zongen) leverden een prestatie van formaat. Strawinsky's tweede versie van Les Noces- waaraan hij in 1919 begonnen was en die hij maakte voor vier vocale solisten, gemengd koor, pauken, slagwerk, harmonium, 2 cimbaloms en pianola- en die onlangs voltooid werd door Theo Verbeij, vormde de hoofdschotel van een fascinerend avondvullend programma. Musiceren op het hoogste niveau ging hand in hand met lichtvoetige, belevenisvolle enscenering.

Tenso: FINAL Call for young composers!

The development of new choral repertoire is one of Tenso’s primary missions. In the coming years,
the network will organize a series of workshops under the direction of composer/conductor James
Wood and with the participation of professional choirs, to stimulate young composers to write for
chamber choir. Using (fragments of) a score as starting point, the goal of the workshops is to make
room for a significant contribution from all participants and to explore various elements such as
dramatic effects, vocal range and colour, text setting, and other compositional tools.
2010/2011 Workshops: the choir as instrument

Six young composers will be invited to come to the 2010 Tenso Days in Oslo (part of Ultima Festival).
During two sessions, they will work on small fragments of a choral score with the Latvijas Radio Koris,
composer/conductor James Wood and conductor Kaspars Putniņš. Two or three of the composers
will be selected for a follow-up workshop to take place in the spring of 2011 (date and location tba),
where they will have the opportunity to work in more detail on a new composition for chamber
choir. A jury consisting of the artistic directors and conductors of the Tenso network choirs will finally
award a commission to one composer, who will be asked to write a new work to be performed in the
2011/2012 season by several Tenso choirs.
